The world has been through some pretty depressing times. There was the Holocaust. There was The Great Depression. Not so long ago, September 11 occurred. People were left with the loss of family members while others were left with no jobs. Now think about the families who are struggling trying to find shelter. Habitat for Humanity International’s mission is to help solve the housing crisis by building homes for these families that cannot afford a place to live.

One of the organization’s main slogans is “Building Houses, Building Lives.” You can put a smile on someone’s face by helping out to provide the impoverished with a place to live. There are some people who used to live the “good life” and spoil themselves with elaborate vacations who are now on a search to find a safe, affordable, and comfortable place to live. It can happen when you least expect it.

Now’s the time to help out. By building a house, you can turn a family’s life around. These families need as much support as they can get. This organization has proved to be successful for years because of the increased support and participation they have received. Make yourself one of those people who get involved. Whether it is donating money, furniture, or taking a few hours out of your day to build a house, you know that you are making a difference. Not only are you making a difference, but you are contributing to the organization as well as families who need the help.

Now reflect and think about how fortunate you are. You live a very secure life style. You have good meals. You have a roof to sleep under. These families have nothing. Your help can travel a long distance and change frowns to smiles. It does not cause any effort to make dreams come true and every bit is appreciated. Spread the word. Help out. Show that happiness is possible. By building these houses, you are building the lives of numerous people.
